Elves

Elves are creatures from the Nordic and Germanic mythology, they are almost human-like creatures that live hidden in the woods and the word “ elf ” comes from Proto-Germanic and from the ancient Nordic. They are tall, thin, they have pointed ears and they are very handsome. Another fact is that elves like singing, listening to music or just standing still looking at beautiful things. They normally live in the middle of the woods, in very beautiful cities that blend with the forest from the distance, but there are some elves that live alone, in the middle of fields. Surprisingly they have an ability: they can hear things from the distance, which helps to hide from enemies who enter the forests. Elves appear in some books: Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Silmarillion , Dragon lance, Iron Fey, Forbid den Kingdoms…, and in some films too: The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter. Elves are used in many works because they have so much beauty and like a lot of people, and the legends say that they are suspicious and dangerous.

Mermaid: a mythological creature

The original name of Mermaid comes from the French word “sea” (mer) and maid, that means young girl or women.
Mermaids are extremely beautiful women in general. Most of them have an strange color of skin and hair, which usually appears very long and bright, and many others have clams in order to cover their breasts. Down the waist, they have a fish tail instead of legs. Talking about personality, mermaids have a tendency to be vain, idle and arrogant; but some types of mermaids are kind and compassionate and often these one are who fall in love with humans.
This strange creature often lives at the bottom of the sea or oceans, usually where water is extremely dark and cold, but it can also be found in lakes and even rivers. Mermaids love singing, and with their voices they cast a spell on humans (usually men); they also enjoy using corals as jewelry and playing with other fish. However, their most impressive power is that they can become humans for a short period of time whenever they want.

Mermaids appear in a lot of religious books, children’s films (as the famous “the little mermaid”), TV series and fairy tales; but they aren’t very common nowadays.
